Remove EXIF metadata (GPS, camera ID, timestamps) from images for privacy.
Remove EXIF metadata (GPS, camera ID, timestamps) from images for privacy.
Nextooly’s Image Metadata Remover helps you protect your privacy before sharing photos online. Many images contain hidden EXIF metadata such as GPS coordinates, camera model, lens information, timestamps, device IDs, and more.
This tool opens your image directly in the browser, redraws it on a clean canvas, and exports a fresh copy without any metadata attached. You keep the same visual quality, but all identifying EXIF data is removed.
Example
Input: The source text, file, or settings you want to work with.
Output: A clean image metadata remover result ready for the next step.

Does this EXIF cleaner upload my images to any server?
No. All EXIF removal is done inside your browser using a canvas re-rendering process. Your images never leave your device and no data is uploaded or stored anywhere.
How does this tool remove EXIF metadata from images?
The tool decodes your image in the browser, draws it onto an HTML canvas, and re-exports it as a clean file. This strips all embedded metadata including GPS location, camera model, lens info, timestamps, thumbnails, and ICC profiles.
Which image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, and WebP files are supported. The tool accepts any file whose MIME type begins with image/*, as long as the browser can decode it.
Will the cleaned image lose quality?
The tool exports the cleaned image at high quality (0.95 for JPG/WebP). PNG images remain lossless. Most users will not notice any visual difference after EXIF removal.
Why is the cleaned file renamed with '_clean'?
To help differentiate between original images and cleaned versions, the tool appends '_clean' before the file extension. This prevents accidental overwriting of your original files.
Why do I see an error saying the image failed to load?
This usually happens if the selected image is corrupted, uses an unsupported codec, or the browser cannot decode its format. Re-saving the image or using a different browser typically resolves the issue.
Is GPS and camera metadata completely removed?
Yes. All EXIF metadata including GPS coordinates, device make/model, lens info, orientation flags, timestamps, and embedded thumbnails are fully stripped from the cleaned image.
Can I clean multiple images at once?
This lite version processes one image at a time. After cleaning and downloading a photo, you can select another image and repeat the process.
