What is my IP?

Does this tool upload my IP information to any server?

No. The tool displays your IP information directly in your browser. Public IP lookups use third-party public APIs, but nothing is logged, stored, or sent from this website.

How does the tool find my public IP address?

It queries multiple trusted public IP services (ipify, ipapi, ipwhois, jsonip) and uses the first successful response. This ensures accurate public IP detection even if one service fails.

How are local IPs detected?

Local IPs are detected using a WebRTC peer connection. ICE candidates containing IPv4 or IPv6 addresses are parsed and displayed. This happens entirely on your device without contacting any remote servers.

What does the 'Use Google STUN' option do?

When enabled, the tool uses Google’s public STUN server to reveal additional local IPs. This can detect NAT or VPN behavior more accurately, but may expose more internal IP ranges depending on your network setup.

Why are some private IP ranges hidden?

To avoid showing typical LAN addresses, private ranges such as 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, and 172.x.x.x are filtered out. Only non-private local IPs are shown unless the STUN option is enabled.

Can this tool detect whether I am using a VPN or proxy?

Yes. Some IP services return proxy/VPN/Tor indicators, ISP information, and hosting flags. If these fields suggest anonymization, the tool marks your connection accordingly.

Why does the tool sometimes show IPv6 but not IPv4, or vice versa?

This depends on your network and ISP configuration. Some networks support only IPv4 or only IPv6. WebRTC may also reveal only one protocol depending on your NAT and browser behavior.

What is the network information shown on the left panel?

The tool reads your browser’s Network Information API (effectiveType, downlink, rtt, saveData). These values indicate connection quality but never include personal or sensitive details.

Is my IP information saved when I click Copy?

No. The Copy button simply generates a text summary and writes it to your local clipboard. Nothing is stored or uploaded at any point.
